The Military and Veterans Resource Center provides counseling to Student Veterans every Tuesday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

North Carolina State University Counseling Center will provide the Counselors.

The Disability Services Office will have representatives on site every Monday 1:00 pm-3:00 pm, Wednesday 10:00 am-12:00 pm, and Thursday 10:00 am-12:00 pm.

The Wake County Veterans Service Officer will be at the the Military and Veterans Resource Center Wednesday September 20th, 2017 from 9:00 am and 12:00 pm

Every day 20+ Veterans and 1 Active Duty Soldier take their own lives. Burdened with the stigma associated with mental health issues and the military “shame” surrounding PTS (Post Traumatic Stress), they instead turn to suicide as their only option to relieve suffering.

And yet smoking continues to be an important part of the military culture. According to the CDC, smoking is more common among military personnel than civilians.

The National Veterans Foundation (NVF) acknowledges that veteran substance abuse is a growing problem. The war on terror has magnified the physical and mental trauma on soldiers. Today, there are more instances of debilitating physical and mental health issues in veterans than 50 years ago. Substance abuse has increased as veterans try to cope with their own physical disabilities, mental issues, and the challenges of a civilian life.
